Karachi: (Parliament Times) Demand to release the Pakistani mother Dr Aafia Siddiqui
echoed in the Women’s March 2020 in Washington DC, when Pakistani
women participating in the march raised voice against injustice to Aafia.
Nudrat Khatoon, one of the Pakistani women participants, who also raised
placard, said Aafia Siddiqui is a political prisoner and must be released
immediately.
Earlier, amidst freezing rain and cold, thousands of the participants of the
Women’s March began its trek toward the White House carrying banners and
chanting slogans. The march was aimed at to raise awareness about issues
faced by the women and get stopped injustices meted out to them.
Nudrat Khatoon said she and other Pakistani origin women participated in this
march to raise the issue of illegal detention of Dr Aafia Siddiqui and such other
Muslim women political prisoners, jailed in the US.
However, Aafia Movement Pakistan leader and noted neurophysician of the
country Dr Fowzia thanked the US women of Pakistani origin to attend the
march and raise the demand of release of Pakistani mother Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
She announced that on the occasion of Global Education Day on January 24,
Friday, the Global Aafia Movement would hold an ‘education walk’ from
Karachi University to NED University, which would be attended by teachers,
students, women, lawyers, educationalists, politicians and civil society
members.
She said an ‘educated Pakistan’ is the answer to the issues being suffered by
this nation and country. She appealed the citizens to participant in the
education march.
