ISLAMABAD: Pakistan supports international efforts for peace in Middle East and our efforts for peace will continue.
“Pakistan is reviewing the prevailing tense situation in the region. We back the endeavors for establishment of peace in ME. There is room for de-escalation and efforts for peace in the region, this was said by Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui during her weekly press briefing here Thursday.
Replying to a question she said Pakistan has deep friendly relations with other countries of region including Iran.
Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has directed Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi to contact the foreign ministers of respective countries and visit these countries, she pointed out. Preparations are underway in this respect.
She stated FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi will meet leadership of US, Iran and Saudi Arabia soon under the directives of PM.
Aisha Farooqui said on one side there are neighboring countries and on other side there are interests of Pakistanis. But Pakistan will not become party to any regional conflict.
Responding to another question she said foreign secretary Sohail Mehmood is highly experienced and veteran diplomat with experience spanning over 3 decades. All the officers of FO are discharging their diplomatic obligations under him.
Terming some media reports concocted she said Pakistan is keeping contacts at diplomatic level with all countries including neighboring countries. “we will not become part of any foreign agenda.
US-Iran conflict will leave deep impact on all regional countries including Pakistan, she underlined.
She went on to say lockdown in Occupied Kashmir has entered into 158th day and during this period the contact of 8 million people of Occupied Kashmir has become severed with the people in the world. People are facing food shortfall in Occupied Kashmir. Pakistan is making world countries abreast of situation in Indian held Kashmir.
