Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue Qaisar Iqbal has said that no trade center would be raided, technology was being sought to check under-invoicing. The sales data is being integrated with the FBR system so that transparency is maintained. He was addressing business community at the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) her on Tuesday.
Trader’s time is valuable. Such systems and reforms are being introduced so that it is easier for traders to submit tax statements, he added.
The policy-making will include the recommendations of the Chamber of Commerce. He said the FBR believes in a partnership between taxpayers and tax collectors. He said that the government is introducing multiple facilities for taxpayers and especially the businessmen. He lauded the role of the Rawalpindi Chamber in promoting trade activities, resolving tax-related disputes and raising awareness on increasing the tax net.
Earlier, RCCI President Saboor Malik, said that raids at business centers is causing harassment among the community. As these raids were taken place during wee hours which gives an impression that the business community is being treated as criminals, he added. The reputation of the business center is affected. Wedding halls, real estate tax rates should be rationalized. Chamber representatives should be given place in advisory board and Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee (ADRC) should be revived, he demanded.
He also demanded that more incentives should be given to tax payers and reforms must be introduced in tax regime to help broadening the tax net and increasing the tax payers numbers. Group leader Sohail Altaf in his address asked FBR to facilitate existing tax payers and increase the tax base. He also urged to build strong relationship with FBR.
