ZHOB: Government Teachers Association elected district president, secretary general and other cabinet members for the next two years. The polls held under the supervision of provincial office bearers at Government City Branch school here on Saturday. Two panels ‘Qalam Dawat’ and ‘Takhti’ contested the elections. Teachers from every nook and corner participated actively to cast their votes. All the necessary arrangements were made for the teachers at the polls premises. Earlier, the teachers from both panels run their election campaign with determination and convinced both male and female teachers from the district to vote for them.
Qalam Dawat panel had nominated Hafiz Usman Akhter Mandokhail for the post of the president, Noor-ul-Haq Lawoon for secretary general and Qadam Jan Mandokhail for chairman, while Haji Abdul Latif Mandokhail was the presidential candidate of Takhti panel, Akhwandzada Mashhood Shah for the secretary general and Hassan Mandokhail for the chairman post.
However, Qalam Dawat panel won the elections by getting 422 while Takhti panel got 241 votes.
Yousnas Kakar, secretary general of Government Teachers Association Balochistan, who supervised the entire election process, told this scribe that they had tried their level best for the smooth and transparent conduct of elections.
Meanwhile, the newly elected president Hafiz Usman Mandokhail and other cabinet members of GTA thanked the teachers for posing confidence and said their victory proved the trust of the teaching fraternity on them. They vowed to strive for the rights of teachers in coming two years.
“We would utilize our energies and capabilities for the welfare of teachers and will never compromise on principles,” the newly elected cabinet vowed.
