ZHOB: Four members of a family killed while twelve others including children critically injured when a tractor trolley they were traveling in fell into a ditch on Zhob-Dera Ismail Khan highway (N-50) here on Wednesday.
According to Levies officials, the tractor trolley carrying nomadic families skidded-off the highway near Sarobi area of Mughal Kot after its driver lost control due to the brake failure. Resultantly, four including two women died instantly while 12 others majority of them children sustained serous wounds.
“The incident took place when the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn, plunging the trolley into a gorge,” the officials said.
The local people rushed to the spot and retrieved the injured and the bodies from the ravine and shifted them to DHQ Teaching hospital Dera Ismail Khan. They added.
Deadliest road accidents on Zhob-D.I Khan and Zhob-Quetta highways connecting Balochistan to Khyber Pashtoonkhwa are increasing with each passing day. National Highway Authority (NHA) is responsible for regulating traffic on highways through effective policing and also responsible for developing mechanisms to ensure compliance with road safety mechanisms. However the authorities concerned are completely failed to do its job properly in the area due to its negligible presence. The main reason of traffic accidents is due to lack of awareness about rules and regulation.
HONOR KILLING: A young woman and a man were killed in Zhob city allegedly in the name of ‘honour’. Police said.
“The suspected killer opened fire and gunned down his wife and her alleged paramour in the name of honor late at Tuesday night in New Abadi area of Zhob. The bodies have been handed over to the heirs after medico legal formalities at DHQ civil hospital,” SHO Yousaf said.
