RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Police has finalized security arrangements regarding the Azadi March and deployed security personnel at the sensitive points on the route.
According to details, the sensitive points on the route of procession have been identified and timings of arrival, stay and departure from these points have been determined. The procession can neither arrive at a sensitive point in advance nor can stay there for more than the specified time.
The route of the procession will be provided a three tier security cover. The markets and shops on the route will remain closed while watching the procession, standing on the rooftop of houses or from the windows will not be allowed.
The CPO has issued strict directions that the security personnel will report at their duty point two hours prior to the start of the procession and the security will remain deployed after the end of the procession till the orders of stand down are issued by the competent authority.
The Regional Police Officer, Muhammad Ehsan Tufail while expressing his satisfaction over the security arrangements said that, no untoward incident occurred during Muharram ul Haraam, Chehlum and on other events due to the security duties which Rawalpindi police performed under the command of City Police Officer, Muhammad Faisal Rana.
Furthermore, the Afghanistan Embassy in a letter appraised the performance of Rawalpindi police after the recovery of a stolen vehicle of an employee of Afghan Embassy.
According to details, the vehicle of Abdul Ghaffar, an employee of Afghan Embassy, was stolen few days ago, which is recovered by Sadiqabad police and handed it over to the owner, the employee of Afghan Embassy, after legal process on which the Afghanistan Embassy wrote a letter to the SSP Operations Tariq Walait, appreciating Rawalpindi police.
