Muzaffarabad: United Nations 75th Foundation Day was commemorated under the aegis of Institute of Dialogue Development and Diplomatic Studies (IDDDS) in collaboration with Scholars Foundation Muzaffarabad here on Thursday.
In this regard, a panel discussion comprised of different intellectuals of society was conducted where people admired the activities of United Nations for the stability of Peace and harmony worldwide.
Speaking on the occasion, Director IDDDs Dr. Waleed Rasool said that United Nations (UN) was founded after Second World War by 51 countries to maintain international peace and security besides development of friendly relations between the Nations.
He said that the purpose of UN formation was for better living standards and human rights.
Keeping in view the Peace and Human rights, he said that People in Azad Jammu and Kashmir are also celebrating foundation day as this area which is administered by Pakistan have separate independent government set up which was founded on the same day.
“People in Azad Kashmir endeavors for peaceful freedom of movement for their brethren in Indian Occupied Kashmir who suffers Indian atrocities in (IOK)” he maintained.
He said that this day reminds us about Kashmir dispute as legitimate international issue and the longest pending dispute unresolved on UN agenda, “We (Kashmiri) reminds this UN on foundation day” he said.
He stated that the world has been categorized in to three categories due to inventions and innovations.
Terming the dominions of Muslim States, he said that despite of free and independent states, their sovereignty is controlled by super powers or Permanent Members of United Nations Security Council.
He said that five permanent members have the power to make decisions of the world, “When we talk about Kashmir, Our (Muslims) voice remained unheard because we are not among permanent five members of Security Council despite of having one third population of the globe” he added.
Chariman Scholars Foundation Iftikhar Kazmi, Secretary General Samia Siddique and other teachers and intellectuals were also present on the occasion.
Earlier on the same day, Secretary General UN Antonio Guterres on 74th Day of UN said that UN remains focused on tackling the problems facing people and our planet. He said, “On UN day we celebrate the enduring ideals of the UN Charter, but continue to evolve as new problems arise.”
