Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan has left for Teheran in an effort to defuse tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Foreign Office spokesman said that Imran Khan’s trip is a part of the plan for regional peace and stability. During his visit he will meet the Iranian spiritual leader Ayatollah Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani.
According to Foreign Office spokesman Dr. Mohammad Faisal during the meetings in Teheran Prime Minister Imran Khan will exchange views on peace, stability and matters of mutual interest.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will also visit Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to meet Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.
The federal cabinet will now meet on Monday.
During the meeting in New York US President Donald Trump had asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to try to ease the tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Crown Prince had also expressed his desire that Imran Khan should play his due role to ease the tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
