Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and industry (RCCI) has been proactively working on sustainable development goals (SDGs) to improve living standard of masses, especially women entrepreneurs.
Addressing the seminar, Business Women of Pakistan and SDG’s jointly organized by RCCI and German Development Agency, GIZ, President RCCI Malik Shahid Saleem said that the Women empowerment is imperative for economic uplift of the country and “Women entrepreneurs must be promoted”.
The state of the art center for women entrepreneurs, Women Business Incubation Centre (WBIC) has been functional at Chamber, aiming to provide women a platform to excel in the field of entrepreneurship. The Center also provide them an opportunity to get tailor-made trainings, hold seminars, training programs and business plan competition to create awareness among Women Entrepreneurs regarding product development, pricing, packaging and export marketing etc.
Similarly, RCCI has been organizing All Pakistan Women Chambers President’s Conference regularly aiming to provide a platform to women to excel in the field of entrepreneurship, improve networking and consultation. Coffee Morning sessions, another regular feature of RCCI where women entrepreneurs interact with leading business personalities, ambassadors and shared success stories, he added
Malik Shahid Saleem also informed that this year RCCI launched a mega project titled,” Glorious Rawalpindi” aiming to beautify the city, prevention of heritage, introducing mass transit projects like Metro Bus, Double Decker Buses for tourist and increase infrastructure development projects like high rise buildings around Nahla Lai etc.
Malik Shahid Saleem said that the RCCI playing an effective role in the social development by fulfilling its social responsibility and has taken a number of initiatives. Considering the global impact of climate change and realizing our responsibility, we are running a Campaign with a slogan of My Green Pakistan for last two years. Through this campaign RCCI is aimed at planting 100,000 plants in the region and up till now we have successfully planted more than 65,000 trees in nearby areas of twin cities. Another awareness campaign with the slogan of Water Resources is planned and we are actively visiting different institutes for educating the masses regarding the conservation of drinking water. RCCI has established a Nursery at RCCI Rawat Industrial Estate for the growth and nurturing of more than 10,000 plants. Under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) RCCI is hosting a Dastarkhwan in Gawalmandi Area of Rawalpindi city for marginalized families. On average, around two hundred people get free food from here daily, he informed. During the Holy month of Ramadan more than 2000 people were served with Hygienic food at Chamber premises. He said that RCCI’s Medical Clinic, another initiative of Chamber, is providing facilities to deserving people. RCCI is taking part for the welfare of the ailing humanity and is providing free treatment and medicines to the deserving patients.
