ISLAMABAD : Supreme Court (SC) has rejected two petitions seeking acquittal and enhancement in sentence of the convict in murder case.
A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Asif Saeed Khan Khosa heard the case by video link here Tuesday.
The CJP remarked during the hearing of the case “ when truth is not spoken then the situation will worsen. The accused takes benefit if truth is not spoken. It was taken the plea in the petitions that the accused was mentally unfit while it could not prove any thing like this from medical report. He in a rage committed a murder. Child and a lady were injured. One murder was committed.
The trial court awarded death sentence to the accused Munir Ahmad. Later high court commuted death sentence to life imprisonment.
The court while rejecting the petitions related to acquittal and enhancement in sentence term disposed of the matter.
