CS AJK says reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure at flash-flood hit Lesswa Village to be speedily completed

NEELUM:     (Parliament Times)    Chief Secretary Azad Jammu and Kashmir Mathar Niaz Rana has said that reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure at flash-flood hit Lesswa Village in Neelum is being speedily completed and all available resources are being utilized to address problems of the victims on priority basis.

He was talking to flood affectees following presiding over a meeting of secretaries of different departments at Lesswa on Sunday. The meeting reviewed relief and rehabilitation activities in the affected areas.

On this occasion secretaries as well as representatives of NGOs briefed the meeting about their emergency response to the natural calamity, ongoing programs and overall performance of their respective organizations.

The Chief Secretary expressed satisfaction over the performance of departments and district administration and said they should complete reconstruction process with the same passion as initiated.

Mr. Rana lauded the role of Pakistan Army in rescue, relief and rehabilitation process of flash-flood affectees and expressed his profound gratitude to the Armed forces of the country.

“Reconstruction of the damaged roads, electricity system, water supply, health units and other basic infrastructure should be completed as early as possible”, CS directed.

The Chief Secretary directed the secretaries of concerned departments to prepare working papers for those projects beyond their authorities to be approved by the cabinet.

Talking to the affectees at an Open Katchehry the Chief Secretary said rescue operation with cooperation of Pak Army is speedily underway to retrieve the dead bodies.

“Excavator would be provided to them free of cost to remove debris of their houses”, he announced.

“A comprehensive plan is being prepared to rehabilitate the affectees, compensation to them would be paid within a week”, Rana told.

“Moreover, Memorandums of Understanding are being signed with NGOs to accomplish development process and rehabilitate the affectees all to together”, he further told.

Secretary Finance Fareed Ahmed Tarrar, Secretary Health Major General Tahir Sardar, Secretary LGRD Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Secretary SDMA Shahid Mohyudin Qadri, Secretary Works Ghulam Bashir Mughal, Secretary Forests Dr Shehla Waqar, , Secretary Electricity Sardar Zaffar, Secretary Agriculture Raja Tariq Mehsud, Secretary Social Welfare Khawaja Ahsan, Secretary Physical Planning and Housing Sharif Dar, Chief Planning and Development Tahir Mehmood, Additional Secretary Education Syed Saleem Gardezi, Commissioner Muzaffarabad division Chaudhary Imtiaz, Deputy Commissioner Neelum Raja Mehmood Shahid and other high ranking officials and representatives of the NGOs attended the meeting.

Fatiha was also offered for the departed soul in the tragedy.
