BARCELONA: The AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan said European countries should play their role for putting pressure over India to stop human rights abuses in Occupied Kashmir and grant Kashmiris their inalienable right to self-determination.
Addressing a reception, held for him, by Kashmir Council EU here on the other day, he said UN and other international human rights organizations should exert pressure on India to implement on UN Human Rights Commission report.
He was of the view that overseas Kashmiris settled in Europe could also play an effective role in exposing the false narrative of India on Kashmir and highlight Kashmir issue over the globe to pave the way for international support for Kashmiri’s freedom struggle.
Mr. Haider said Kashmiris were basic party of Kashmir dispute whose voice at international level is heard with attention. They should be united in their ranks and files and make collaborated and organized efforts to present their case before international community for its support. They should convince world powers that Kashmiris were struggling for their right to self-determination to determine their future in accordance with their aspirations, he added. This is what was promised to Kashmiris by Indian leadership in 1947 and later supported by United Nations through its resolutions on Kashmir, he stated.
Earlier Mr. Haider held meetings with representatives of different organizations of EU and requested them to prevail upon India to stop massive human rights abuses in Indian Occupied Kashmir that has made the lives of Kashmiris a living hell. He urged them to put pressure on India to release the detained leaders of APHC whose only fault was that they have stood up with the people of Kashmir for their freedom from India.
The reception was attended by former Ambassador to EU and officiating Ambassador in Pakistan High Commission Asif Memon, AJK Health Minister Dr. Najeeb Naqi, Mr. Andrea Barcs, Miss Ramona Benzar, Anthony Crazner, Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed, Secretary to AJK PM Amjad Pervaiz Ali, DG Jammu Kashmir Liberation Cell Fida Kiani and others.
