Islamabad: (Parliament Times) ASEAN with its own colors and ways has developed mechanisms for resolutions of the conflicts amongst the countries and build a relationship through understanding in contrast with economic, socio-cultural and political growth. Ambassador of Philippine to Pakistan H.E Mr. Daniel Ramos Espiritu was speaking on “Community Building in ASEAN” organized by Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies in collaboration with Commission in Science and Technology in the Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) at COMSATS Headquarters in Islamabad today.
Ambassador Espiritu has further highlighted the pillars on which strong building of ASEAN rests especially the values and norms set forth by the leaders of the countries in the historical past. ASEAN has completed its seven magnificent decades of existence with providing assistance to all those countries and taking them along for a shared future. ASEAN has though inspired form the other regional groupings of the world but it has its own pace of growth and set its course through consensus among its members. The huge single market and production base is the main objective of the ASEAN economic community. ASEAN is unique in its own sets of challenges and existing opportunities. ASEAN values people to people connectivity. Ambassador has also said that Pakistan aims to be part of the ASEAN as a dialogue partner is under consideration as it is a time taking process. He has also shed light on Pakistan-Philippines relations, issues in South China sea, Drugs, Displacement, Disaster management and interfaith harmony and issues around during his talk while responding to the questions and answers from the participants.
The event was attended by a large number of Ambassadors, Diplomats, Faculty Members, Journalists, Media Representatives, and Civil Society Members.
