President urges collective efforts to check drug abuse

ISLAMABAD:      President Dr Arif Alvi has said that the government of Pakistan is responsible to check the smuggling and use of illicit drugs.
He said this in his message on the occasion of international day against drug abuse and illegal trafficking.
The International Day Against Drug Abu  se and Illegal Trafficking is being observed across the world today.
This year’s theme of the day is ‘health for justice, justice for health’.

He stressed the role of communities such as family, school, society and religious institutions to help against its spread.
The President said effective solution to the problem of drug abuse and illicit trafficking requires comprehensive infrastructure for the institutions dealing with health and social welfare.
In his message on the day United Nations’ Secretary-General António Guterres said this theme underlines the importance of a holistic approach involving health, human rights, criminal justice and social service institutions.
