NEW YORK: Pakistan has announced to extend financial assistance to UN agency UNRWA engaged in assisting Palestinian refugees.
According to a private TV Chanel, Pakistan permanent envoy to UN Dr Maleeha Lodhi made this announcement in UN.
Maleeha Lodhi said financial assistance bears evidence of Pakistan principled support for Palestinians brothers and sisters. The international community should continue support for Palestinian citizens.
She said Pakistan backed the UN chief’s call and would make a voluntary contribution to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine.
Maleeha Lodhi expressed hope that the new dawn of Palestinian statehood will emerge sooner when Palestinian refugees can finally return to their homes.
Pakistan will continue its support for the people of Palestine till the establishment of an independent state of Palestine.
It is pertinent to mention that UNRWA engaged in providing financial assistance to Palestinian refugees is facing resources crunch.
