IHC rejects petition seeking restraining Abdul Hafiz Sheikh from presenting budget

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected the petition seeking court’s orders to bar Abdul Hafiz Sheikh, advisor to Prime Minister (PM) on finance from presenting the budget for the next financial year.

The court has declared the petition non maintainable.

The petition came up for hearing before IHC single bench headed by Chief Justice Athar Minallah Monday.

The petitioner took the plea that Hafiz Sheikh is advisor to PM on finance and he has not taken oath so far. As per constitution advisor on finance cannot present budget. No unelected person is entitled to present budget in the National Assembly.

He prayed the court to restrain Hafiz Sheikh from presenting the budget.

Chief Justice remarked during the course of hearing where is written in the rules that who can present budget. This court is giving you time therefore, you should have come prepared. Don’t bring such petitions in the court.

The court rejected this petition declaring it non maintainable.
