Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) The Punjab Food Authority’s dairy safety teams have disposed of 13,160 litres chemically contaminated milk during the operation against milk adulterators in Rawalpindi, on Friday.
The operation was made on the special directions of PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman. The teams have placed screening pickets at the entry and exit points of the city at early morning and caught two tankers of tainted milk of the one milk seller (supplier).
Muhammad Usman said that action was taken against milk supplier on the tip-off of vigilance cell. PFA has disposed of milk over failure milk samples, found contamination of harmful chemicals, powder, urea and polluted water in it. Thousands of litres adulterated milk being carried on two vehicles in cities from different dairy farmhouses and factories, located at far-flung areas. He said that the use of tainted milk causes of health diseases among children and elders. He further said that PFA is checking milk on a daily basis to ensure the provision of pure milk during Ramadan as per the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Muhammad Usman further said that PFA has been expanding the circle of operation against milk adulterators in order to tighten grip on them. He said that the Punjab Food Authority would not allow the sale of ‘white poison’ in the name of milk in the market.
