SC orders for filing review petition seeking removal of name of Rao Anwar from ECL afresh along with copy of decision of the court


ISLAMABAD:    Supreme Court (SC) has ordered to file again along with court’s decision the review petition seeking removal of name of Rao Anwar, major accused in Naqeeb Ullah murder case from ECL.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Umar Ata Bandial took up for hearing petition seeking removal of name of Rao Anwar former SSP Malir from ECL Thursday.

Malik Naeem Iqbal counsel for Rao took the plea court had taken notice of murder of Naqeeb Ullah Mehsood. Rao Anwar appeared in the court and the court had granted him bail. But later his name was placed in ECL.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial while addressing the counsel for Rao Anwar remarked “ You say he is on bail, therefore his name be removed from ECL. There is procedure for removing name from ECL. You are police officer why you want to go outside the country. Have you any business outside the country.

Malik Naeem Iqbal told the court family of his client is settled abroad. He has to go to meet his family.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial inquired “ is some other FIR or inquiry is running against Rao Anwar.

Malik Naeem Iqbal told the court that “ several things are running with regard to extra judicial killings of 444 people.
Justice Faisal Arab inquired it comes in the news papers there are several more inquiries against Rao Anwar
Faisal Siddiqui counsel for father of Naqeeb Ullah Mehsood said an inquiry regarding assets is underway with NAB against Rao Anwar.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked “ there are several cases of this nature. We are not seeing this case.

The court ordered Rao Anwar to file again the review petition along with the decision of the court and adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
