Special Ramzan Bazars to supply edibles to consumers at subsidized rates

Altaf Hamid Rao,

MIRPUR (AJK): On the special directives of the AJK government, special Ramzan Bazars have been set up in various parts of all ten districts of the State in order to ensure the required supply of edibles to the general consumers at subsidized rates during the ongoing Holy month of Ramzan, official sources said.

“Quality items of daily use including those of edible have been made available at the Ramzan Bazar at inexpensive rates as compared to those of the general market”, an AJK Government spokesperson told this Correspondent here on Wednesday.

Venders at Ramzan bazaars have been bound to display the official rate lists of the commodities, fixed by the authorities conspicuously at the place at their sale points from 8.30 in the morning till evening all seven days of every week during the holy month, he said.

In Mirpur the Ramzan Bazar has been set up outside premises of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah International Mirpur Cricket stadium. The edibles including mutton, beef, chicken, sugar, vegetables, fruit, atta, rice, pulses and other items will be available at highly inexpensive rates at Ramzan bazars as fixed by the administration.

The AJK government has also directed to the Divisional and District authorities to monitor besides conducting frequent surprise checking of the prices of the commodities of daily use – displayed at the conspicuous places at all the shops in Ramzan Bazar as well as in other shopping centers in all AJK cities, tehsil and district headquarters

The district administrations in AJK have also launched an extensive drive taking stringent measures to discourage profiteering, hoarding and artificial scarcity of edible items during and after the Holy month of Ramzan.

Those involved in such unlawful exercise will be taken to task, the spokesperson said adding that sanctity of the Holy month will be maintained in all circumstances.
