MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) The AJK transport minister Nasir Hussain Dar says transport department was the largest revenue collecting for AJK government.
Talking to transport representatives in his office chamber here on Tuesday he said transport department was collecting the data of transpot from all over AJK. He said he was bringing about reform in his department but it was facing shortage of staff for which he had moved the finance department. He expressed hope that required staff would be provided in the next fiscal years’ budget.
Dar believed that Kashmir was more beautiful than even Switzerland where potential of tourism was enormous. Transport has important link with tourism, he added.
“In Pakistan whatever development was witnessed it happened during the term of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. Sharif was also benefactor of people of Azad Kashmir who hold him in high respect. Metro was built at a cost of 28 billion rupees in Islamabad while in Peshawar it could not be established even at a cost of 100 billion”, he claimed.
Replying to a question he said no proper heed was paid to transport in the past in AJK. He said transport department was collecting transport data which would be computerized. He said rules are needed to be amended in the larger interest of transport in some places. He vowed that his department would be made an example for the rest of the departments in the state.
