Rawalpindi: Execution of death convicts has been stopped due to advent of holy month of Ramadan..
According to media reports, any criminal will not be hanged from 1st Ramadan till Eid ul Fitar holidays in any jail due to Ramadan . President of Pakistan will not give final decision on mercy appeal in this duration while the efforts for reconciliation with the families of the victims have been stepped up by the family members of the death convicts.
289 death convicts including 12 women are in Adyala Jail whose appeals against their conviction are pending hearing in Supreme Court and high court. There are 18 mercy appeals lying with the president.
