BEIJING: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has attended roundtable meeting of the Second Belt and Road Forum for International (BRI) Cooperation in Beijing .
Chinese President Xi Jinping welcomed PM Imran Khan on his arrival at International convention centre.
PM Imran Khan has presented five points to pass on the fruits of mega projects with China to the common man.
World leaders including UN General Secretary are also participating in the conference.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has stressed the need for further boosting connectivity under the umbrella of Belt and Road Initiative.
Addressing Leader’s Roundtable Session of 2nd Belt and Road Forum in Beijing PM said we should also consider digital connectivity, mobility of labor and transfer of skills, cultural links and knowledge and innovation connectivity to further expand the scope of the BRI.
Imran Khan said Pakistan is privileged to have been an early partner of China. He said under the CPEC, we are building highways, modernizing rail network, setting up power plants, establishing a port and special economic zones. He said the CPEC is not a transaction rather it is a transformation of our society.
PM Imran Khan noted that the connectivity of Gwadar port with China’s Xinjiang region will provide a shorter route for China’s imports, reduce the cost for Chinese companies and develop western China as well.
Chinese president President Xi Jinping said while addressing round table conference we will have to open our borders for trade. We will have to work more for development of basic infrastructure and industrial development. We can uplift standard of living of people through shared struggle and endeavors.
He stressed that connectivity will have to be promoted at people to people level. The economy is facing challenges in the entire world. We together will have to work on UN 2030 agenda. Joint efforts will have to be made to avert hazardous effects of climate change, he urged.
