Punjab police have no option but to improve their performance: IG Punjab

Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times)      Inspector General Police Punjab Cap® Arif Nawaz has said that the Punjab Police have no other option but to improve their performance, there is no room for laziness and negligence. We have to improve the image of police in the public and for this purpose Police would have to change their attitude with the public and take further strict steps to control crimes. To achieve this target, practical steps need to be take practical measures and there is no need for rhetoric.

He expressed these views while addressing the Police Darbar at police lines Rawalpindi. This was his first address to the police gathering after assuming the charge of his current assignment. RPO, Rawalpindi Ahmed Ishaq Jehangir, CPO Rawalpindi Abbas Ahsan, DPOs of Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Senior Police Officers of Rawalpindi Range, SHOs and other police officers and officials were present on this occasion.

I. G Police Capt® Arif Nawaz said on average 54 thousand police officers and officials face disciplinary actions every years on various violations. But the performance of police force is not satisfactory. Therefore, police would have to improve their performance and change their attitude with the public. He said senior Police Officers should also adopt police attitude towards their subordinates. In case of any violation, they should take disciplinary action instead of misbehaving with them. He said subordinates should also follow the instructions of their seniors and they should not give them any complaint so that they don’t face any disciplinary action. He said that he is working as the Father of the Police Department and he is taking measures to improve their packages and salaries. He said police will hopefully get good news regarding unfreezing of their 2009 Risk Allowance. He also listens to the grievances and proposals of police. He laid wreath of flowers at the memorial of martyrs.
