    Rafiullah Mandokhail,

ZHOB: Intermittent rainfall continued lashing different parts of Zhob district, affecting thousands of people, damaging agricultural land and houses. Neighboring district Sherani has also witnessed torrential rains that played havoc in its many parts. Ayaz Mandokhail, critically injured when the roof of a construction company room in Mir Khail camp collapsed, while two children suffered serious wounds in rain related incidents in Kill Ozhdan of the district. An excavator of the construction company also fell into a deep ravine in Dhana Sar under construction area.

Heavy and excessive rainfall and land sliding in mountainous area of Dhana Sar – blocked for the last two days – made the lives of people miserable. Long queues of vehicles trapped due to land sliding on Zhob-Dera Ismail Khan highway – linking Balochistan with Khyber Pashtoonkhwa province. Blockage of the highway has resulted in depletion of food items in the regions and Zhob district remained cut off from Khyber Pashtoonkhwa and Punjab.

Kamal Mandokhail, an employee in the federal capital Islamabad says, he and his family have been waiting in Zhob for the last three days to leave for Islamabad.

“The administration and concerned authorities should intensify their efforts to end the miseries of the suffering people,” he demanded.

Meanwhile, on the directives of deputy commissioner Sherani, in the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Zakaullah Durrani the administration is trying its best to clear the highway for traffic.

As the rock falling is common in Dhana Sar area, but in rainy season the chances of rock falling increased manifold. In Jan 2017, six members of an ill-fatted family including two women lost their lives when a fielder car heading towards Dera Ismail Khan fell into a deep ravine due to land sliding and heavy rain. The family was heading towards neighboring Dera Ismail Khan from Zhob.
