Lauds Abbasi’s role as a committed and dedicated civil servant,
MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) The Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan says he would continue his efforts for holding local body elections in the State.
He was addressing the farewell of Secretary Local Government Board Arshad Abbasi here on Tuesday.
The ceremony was addressed by minister for livestock Ch. Muhammad Ismail, former secretary Dr. Mehmoodul Hassan Raja, retired DG OGDC Malik Saeed Aslam, administrator MC Bagh Malik Aftab, Saeed Inqlabi, administrator bhimber Raja Ghulam Rabbani and others.
The Premier said there are around 100,000 government employees. Every one still wants to get government job which was not possible, he added. He said first time this impression was widened that funds were to spend in local department. The department’s projects and schemes are visible on ground, he claimed.
Mr. Haider directed the civil servants to attend the grievances of the people and redress them.
He said Azad Kashmir in the eyes of Kashmir council was like a local authority. We have helped people get their rights through 13th amendment.
“Personally I am grateful to Mian Nawaz Sharif and Fawad Hassan Fawad who graciously met our demands” he said.
While paying tributes to the services of Arshad Abbasi he said as a bureaucrat he gave his best to the State. He was one of the committed and dedicated civil servants, he remarked.
The Prime Minister also referred to political and national services of Sardar Muhammad Abdul Qayyum Khan, Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan and K.H. Khurshid
He said his government resolved the issue of pension to the employees of municipal corporation. However, he asked the MC to enhance its income to meet the expenses.
Addressing on the occasion Mr. Arshad Abbasi said he worked for 30 years and was getting retired in an honourable way. He said he would remember the love and affection that he received today. He recalled that he remained OSD for 5 years.
He said Dr. Mehmoodul Hassan Raja and Mansoor Qadir Dar made remarkable efforts for local government.
