MUZAFFARABAD: (Parliament Times) The AJK Secretary Tourism and Archeology Midhat Shahzad says AJK government was taking measures to provide better facilities to the national and international tourists.
She was addressing after briefing was given to 34-member delegation of 46th Common Training Programme here on Tuesday.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir is one of the safest places in the country in terms of peace and security and has some of the breathtakingly beautiful sights and landscapes, she added.
She was of the view that tourism would significantly be promoted under tourism corridor.
She said an International Congress of Islamic history, culture and heritage of Kashmir was being held in Islamabad on April 4 and 5. Attention of international tourists would be drawn in this conference about how lovely mountains, forests sights and picnic resorts AJK had.
“Steps are also underway under public and private partnership for promotion of tourism in Azad Kashmir. A number of tourism project would be initiated for promotion of tourism under this venture” she said.
Midhat told the visiting delegation that there are colossal opportunities of tourism in the State. She said government was implementing on a comprehensive programme on awareness and information of tourism. We are kicking off community based programme for the growth of tourism in AJK, she stated.
She said “we are expecting lots of international tourists after lifting the restriction of NOC by federal government and a programme is in place to provide them maximum and quality facilities in AJK”.
She said with the introduction of tourism gala and adventure tourism we are expecting an influx of tourists to Azad Kashmir. The head of the delegation was given away a shield by the Secretary.
