Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) Two blind singers Maria Kanwal and Nazkat Ali bagged first and second position respectively at a music competition ‘Voice of Potohar’ held under auspices of Rawalpindi Arts Council on Tuesday. Member Punjab Assembly Farah Agha flanked by Naheed Manzoor and Director RAC Waqar Ahmed was guest of honor of the final ceremony. Senior musicians Khalid Siddique and Anjum Shahbaz adjudged the competition while anchored by Ali Zeb. More than 200 hundred amateur singers participated in the competition. The first prize of Rs. 20,000/- was secured by Maria Kanwal, second prize of Rs.15,000/- got by Nazakat Ali, third prize of Rs. 10,000/- was achieved by Nazakat Ali while fourth consolation prize of Rs.5000/- was achieved collectively by Haroon and Hafsaba. Addressing at prize distribution ceremony, MPA Farah Agha said that new talent is asset and future of the country. She applauded RAC for providing good opportunity to young singers. Naheed Manzoor said that people from fra-flung areas participated and had melodious voice. Director RAC Waqar Ahmed thanked all the participants, judges and chief guest for sparing time to encourage new talent in the field of music.
