Seminar on Kashmir held in Islamabad highlighting Kashmir issue


ISLAMABAD: (Parliament Times) The Kashmir seminar was held under Jammu Kashmir Struggle for Right to Self Determination International here on the other day.

Leaders from AJK, Pakistan, APHC and those who are active at diplomatic front attended the seminar which reviewed the strategy of effectively highlighting Kashmir issue over the globe.

The participants addressing on the occasion pointed out matters relating to Pakistan government, taking up of human rights abuses issue in IOK with United Nations, UN human rights council report, report of parliamentary group in British Parliament and implementation of recommendations of human rights committee of European Parliament on Kashmir.

The seminar emphasized to constitute a collective forum based on AJK government, APHC leaders, leaders of GB and overseas Kashmiris for highlighting Kashmir issue at international level. This forum should work at international level under a comprehensive programme while government of Pakistan should support it, they said.

The leaders said that Kashmir liberation struggle was in accordance with basic human rights and UN charter. India was making abortive attempts to characterize this struggle as terrorist movement, they stated. The speakers said that the Friends of Kashmir group set up in British and EU parliaments, members British and EU parliaments of Kashmiri and Pakistani origin, and local level active organizations of Kashmiris were getting successes for Kashmiris right to self-determination.

AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan presided over the seminar while chief guest of the seminar was member British Parliament Wajid Khan. Foreign Office spokesman Dr. Muhammad Faisal, Raja Najabat Hussain, MNA Norin Farooq Ibrahim, Senator Sehr Kamran, APHC leaders Ghulam Muhammad Saffi, Muhammad Altaf Wani, Sheikh Tajamalul Islam, Secretary General struggle for right to self-determination Muhammad Azam, DG JKLC Fida Hussain Kiani, Abdul Hameed Lone, Irshadul Haque, Abida Rafique, and Abid Abbasi also spoke on the occasion.
