Rawalpindi: (PR) A moot entitled “Importance of Song in Poetry” was conducted by Rawalpindi Arts Council and Sabaat Foundation jointly to mark World Poetry Day. It was presided over by senior poet and intellectual Naseem-e-Sahar, Farkhanda Shamim was chief guest while Mazhar Masood anchored the ceremony follewd by Mehfil-e-Mushaira. The speakers addressing at the occasion said that popular songs of the past had still their importance but today’s poetry lacked such melodious songs. Chairman Sabbat Foundation welcomed the guests and the poets Akbar Khan Niazi, Musarat Khan, Muhammad Irfan, Nusrat Yab, Tariq Mehmood, Dr Mazhar Iqbal, Amjad Harral, Samina Tabbasum, Farhana Ali, Jia Qureshi, Sabeen Younis, Gul-e-Nazuk, Khaliq ur Rehman, Abdul Qadir Tabban and Ali Ahmed Qamar presented their poetry.
