Says no change of guard in AJK, Barrister Sultan to continue as party president,
Islamabad: (Parliament Times) The central Information Secretary Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Umer Cheema has said that several PML_N ministers who were ready to join the PTI are in constant touch with central leadership of the party (PTI).
Talking to a group of editors associated with AJK based Kashmir newspapers here on Thursday Mr. Cheema said that the decision regarding their joining the party would be taken accordingly in line with policy and the party manifesto. Brushing aside the media reports regarding the change of guard in PTI-AJK chapter, he said that the talks of removing Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chudhary from Party’s president-ship were imaginary. “The name of Chief organizer has been announced as a part of reorganization drive”, he said adding that the reorganization drive was meant for not only AJK but for the entire country. “So far no decision has been taken with regard to dissolution of party units”, he said adding in such a case an official notification would be issued. “It is not necessary that party units of all the provinces would be dissolved by issuing a single notification, it could be done separately, however, if required the party can retain a unit it deems necessary”, he maintained. Cheema said although Prime Minister Imran Khan had appointed Saif-ul-Allah Niazi as the chief organizer of the party but as far as the reorganization of the party is concerned each area has its own political dynamics that could not be simply ignored during the process. Replying to a query the PTI information secretary said that before the dissolution of any party unit workers would be taken on board. He said holding intra-party elections was not possible at the moment. “Nominations would be made but the party’s full focus will be on the local body elections”, he said.
In response to a question regarding the AJK government the PTI leader said that amongst the present lot of ministers in the AJK government several ministers were in touch with central leadership and were ready to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. About corruption in AJK he said although reports of corruption were pouring in from the AJK but PTI believes in across the board accountability. “By arresting our own minister the PTI has made it clear that there will be across the board accountability and everyone will be held accountable”, he said adding that whether it was AJK or any other place the PTI does not believe in political retribution. “This is the reason that despite having government in the center we did not indulge in any sort of political maneuvering in AJK so far and nor shall we do in future”, he said adding that it was a separate matter if the people of AJK were not satisfied with the government’s performance in the region.
