Karachi: A coffin-posh march demanding release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui left Peshawar for Islamabad on Tuesday.
According to details, a march of Aafia supporters, civil society and human rights activists wearing symbolic coffin cloth left on foot from Peshawar Press Club for Islamabad to raise demand of early and honorable release of the daughter of the nation.
March organizer Inamullah Marwat talking to media said the people of KpK have once again expressed their solidarity with Aafia Siddiqui and through this march they have conveyed the sentiments of Pakistani public to their rulers. They said this march is the part of global struggle of civil society for release of Aafia.
He reminded that the people of KpK had also staged a march on foot from Laki Marwat to Islamabad in 2017 in the ending days of US President Obama’s government. They had appealed to the then Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to play his role for seeking US presidential pardon for Dr Aafia Siddiqui. He regretted that Mian Nawaz Sharif could not get this honor, as well as, discharges this national, moral and religious duty. He said now Prime Minister Imran Khan could do this job. He said we appeal to Prime Minister Imran Khan to play his due role for release of Aafia. He said we have confidence in Imran Khan that he would not disappoint the nation.
A large number of people belonging to Peshawar, Laki Marwat, Kark, Malakand, Mohmand Agency and other areas attended the march. They included Inamullah Khan Marwat, Waseem Abbasi, Anwar, Qamar Zaman, child supporters Muhammad Kashif Anwar, Muhammad Atif Anwar, Wusaatullah Khan and others
