RAWALPINDI: (PR) SCO was created in 1976 through special PM directive, when department of Telegraph and Telephone (T&T) was unable to provide the bare minimum essential communication
facilities in AJ&K, GB (then Northern Areas) and parts of tribal territory (FATA). The PM remained without communication during his visit to GB. This organization took over the responsibility from T&T department and since then providing all types of reliable and efficient
communication to general public and defence forces deployed all along the LOC, the spokesperson of SCO Col Ghulam Hussain Anjum said. Organization is having rich experience of working in different terrain under harsh weather. It is worth mentioning that there are more
than 250 locations in AJ&K and GB where only SCO is providing all brands of communication to its customers, he stated.
SCO wants to facilitate populace of these areas with such understandings to bring them at par with the rest of the country. SCO is open to all CMOs and Telcos for such like understandings and subsequently to reach an agreement on mutually agreed basis purely on
merit for provision of state-of-the-art telecom facilities to deprived populace of AJ&K, GB and FATA. SCO has already signed a consortium agreement with PTCL, an MoU with CM Pak and talks with other telcos are in progress. This arrangement also accomplishes the vision of PM of Pakistan to provide equal opportunities and facilities for all citizens of Pakistan.
