ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has directed administration to provide alternate land for Sukkar Press Club (SPC) and file report thereof within one month.
A 3-member bench presided over by Justice Gulzar Ahmad took up the case for hearing Friday.
Mayor Sukkar told the court that high court has ordered to remove encroachments from parks.
Additional Advocate General Sindh said Sukkar Press Club was located on Park land. Therefore, we are removing it.
Justice Faiz Essa remarked “ provide some alternate land. Press club is also a public place. Any marriage hall has not been built.
Deputy Commissioner Sukkar took the plea that press club walas have selected 5 places which we can not provide them We are ready to provide them land outside the city.
Justice Gulzar Ahmad remarked the job of deputy commissioner and mayor is resolving the problems facing the people. Sukkar city has been filled with garbage. There is no electricity nor any other facility therein. The entire city has been turned into ruins.
The court while directing the administration to provide alternate land for Sukkar Press Club within one month and filing report thereof has adjourned the matter for indefinite period.
