ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday expressed disappointment over Punjab Assembly’s decision to raise salaries and privileges of lawmakers, ministers and the chief minister, calling the move untenable.
“I am extremely disappointed by decision of Punjab Assembly to raise pays and privileges of MPAs, Ministers and especially CM,”the prime minister wrote on Twitter. He said the increase could be justified once prosperity returns to Pakistan. “But now, when we do not have resources to provide basic amenities to all our people, this is untenable,” he said.
Meanwhile, a private TV channel reported that Prime Minister Imran Khan is earning less than federal ministers in his cabinet and chief ministers of provinces. According to report, the prime minister draws salary less than those of chief minister of four provinces and federal ministers.
The salary slip of the prime minister is also doing the rounds of the social media.
