Abiding peace in sub continent to remain next to impossible unless Kashmir conundrum is addressed: Maleeha Lodhi

NEW YORK: Pakistan permanent envoy in UN Maleeha Lodhi has said abiding peace will remain elusive in sub continent unless Kashmir conundrum is addressed.

In an interview with US media, Maleeha Lodhi said tension between Pakistan and India diverts our full attention to Eastern borders. Tension with India can affect Afghan peace efforts. Pakistan wants restoration of peace in Afghanistan.
She underlined that tension between Pakistan and India is not in the broader interest of the region. Abiding peace in sub continent will remain next to impossible without resolution of Kashmir issue, she added.
Maleeha Lodhi said last week that international community should pressurize India to come to negotiating table. The international community will have to see who is standing for peace at present.. The international community will have to see war voices are emanating from where.
She held that Prime Minister Imran Khan statement represents the aspirations of people of Pakistan who don’t want to head towards war.
