ISLAMABAD : (Parliament Times) A high level meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan held in Islamabad on Sunday reviewed relief and rehabilitation activities following war-like situation created by India at LoC and adjacent areas of AJK.
It was decided that a comprehensive plan for the victims of LoC costing 5 billion rupees would be sent to federal government for approval. Federal government would also be approached for issuing health cards and Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) cards to the people of 13 constituencies living alongside LoC continuously facing unprovoked Indian forces shelling.Addressing the meeting the prime minister expressed satisfaction over immediate steps taken by the administration concerned for assisting firing affected people during the shelling that continues for several days. He directed to pay compensation to the heirs of martyrs and injured of Indian firing within 24 hours and said the process of payment should be simplified for convenient of the families.
Raja Farooq Haider paid rich tributes to armed forces and ranger police and said people of AJK stands firmly behind them in protecting our frontiers.He also lauded the morale of people of LoC and assured them that government will mobilize all available resources for their relief and rehabilitation.Earlier on his arrival to Islamabad, while addressing the PML-N workers he told them about his engagements in Europe during the visit. He claimed that debate in EP over Kashmir and human rights violations of Indian forces in IOK was a historic success. Despite lots of pressure exerted by Indian Lobby British Parliament held a detailed debate on Kashmir. It was first time in 70 years that out of country any parliament Kashmir issue was discussed so elaborately, he added. The embassies of Brussels, Spain and France also extended us their full cooperation, he said.He said federal government should give a role to APHC leadership and AJK government at this critical juncture to aggressively highlight Kashmir issue abroad. He said a forum comprising AJK government and APHC leadership should be made. Mr. Haider said European Union was thinking to send a fact finding mission to see the ground realities in OIK which was something extraordinary.He said all the political parties in AJK would be consulted to evolve a strategy on Kashmir. Their suggestions would be forwarded to federal government for further action. He said he would shortly visit Line of Control to see the damages caused by incessant Indian forces firing for the last few days. Administrators at LoC in coordination with minister for SDMA Ahmed Raza Qadri should constitute committees to extend assistance to the affected people, he urged.Mr. Haider paid rich tributes to the pilot (Hassan Siddiqui) who shoot down two Indian war planes and said we are delighted at the bravery of our pilots who made us feel so proud during the war.
