Lahore: A Petition seeking to remove name of Shehbaz Sharif from the ECL has been fixed for hearing in the Lahore High Court.
A two member bench of the LHC presided over by Justice Malik Shehzad and comprising Justice Mirza Waqar will take up the case for hearing on Monday.
Shehbaz Sharif through Advocate Azam Nazir Tarar has filed a petition in the LHC seeking removal of his name from the ECL.
Federal government, interior ministry and Chairman NAB have been made respondents in the petition.
Petitioner took the plea that NAB had made cases of Ramzan Sugar Mills and Ashiyana Housing scheme against him.
Petitioner said that he had regularly appeared before the court and given evidences of his innocence.
NAB leveled allegations against him during bail plea too but it could not prove the allegations. Upon it the court granted him bail
Petitioner’s grand – daughter is ill and he cannot go to London to inquire her health due to placement of his name on the ECL.
Petitioner prayed court to issue orders to remove his name from the ECL.
It is vital to mention here that former Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif’s name was put on the ECL in case of accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income.
