MIRPUR (AJK): Senior Kashmir journalist Nadeem Ahmed Sidiquee died in a road accident with five others seriously injured in the tragic mishap at adjoining village of Puljorha on Mirpur Kotli Road Saturday morning.
Sidiquee, was on way along with camera crew for the coverage of the plight of the population of the forward areas close to the line of control in Bhimbher district of AJK following the ongoing escalation of the situation at the LoC.
According to details, Nadeem Ahmed Siddiquee, working for a private tv channel and resident editor of a local urdu daily, was on way to the Line of control at Peer Galli when his car collided with the passenger mini bus near Pull Jhora, about 15 kilometer from Mirpur city.
Sideequee died on the spot, he was just 40 years old. Whereas four of other passengers including Zaffar Butt (35) , cameraman of the tv channel, local TV and drama artist Kaleem ul Hassan Jiraal, Inam ul haq (42) and Shehzad Ahmed (28) and Kashmir (28) sustained serious injuries.
The injured were rushed to Divisional Headquarters hospital where the condition of two grievously injured Zaffar Butt and Kaleem ul Hassan Jiraal is stated to be critical.
The accident was so fatal as the Toyota Corolla car, belonging to a local political activist, was badly smashed following the head on collision with the passenger mini bus coming from the opposite direction. Police have booked the bus driver.
Journalist Nadeem Siddiquee, had a distinguished career in the field of journalism since about past two decades. He had also been serving various tv channels and dailies in Islamabad besides Mirpur during his long journalistic career.
The news of Siddiquees’ demise spread like of jungle fire in Mirpur city. A large number of Journalists including Kashmir Press Club President Sajaad Jiraall, Senior journalists Altaf Hamid Rao, Sohrab Ahmed Khan, Station Director AK Radio Mirpur Muhammad Shakeel, Member Board of Governors AJK Press Foundation Arshad Mahmood Butt CUJ President Zafeer Baba, Zaffar Mughal, Ex President CUJ Muhammad Ramzan Chughtai, Shehzada Iqbal, Attique Ahmed Sudhoo Zai, Adnan Jabaar Mughal, Rizwan Akram, Sajaad Qayyum Khanpuri, Pervez Shehzad and Sardar Abid Hussain besides elders from all segments of the civil society and officials of the district administration immediately rushed in large number to the DHQ hospital to share grief with the bereaved family besides to inquire about the well being of those injured in the mishap
