KARACHI: Karachi Banking Court has extended interim bail of 11 accused persons including former president Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur till March 05 in mega money laundering case.
Mega Money laundering case came up for hearing before banking court on Thursday.
As many as 11 suspects including Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur appeared before the court . The arrested suspects including Anwar Majeed, Abdul Ghani Majeed, Hussain Lawai and Taha Raza were presented in the court. Namar Majeed son of Anwar Majeed, Zulqarnain and Ali Majeed also reached the court.
At the inception of hearing the learned judge inquired from the investigation officer Muhammad Ali Abroo what headway has been made in the case.
He told the court that we are transferring the record of the case to NAB under the directives of Supreme Court (SC).
The court directed investigation officer what he is saying he should provide it to court in writing.
The investigation officer said he gives it in writing just now to the court.
Farooq H Naik, counsel for Asif Ali Zardari took the plea that SC had not said anywhere in its orders that reference be filed in NAB. But the apex court has directed to conduct further investigation. FIA and NAB are misinterpreting the SC decision.
The court said to the investigation officer that prosecutor should either file final challan or submit application for transferring the case.
FIA Prosecutor said record is being shifted. Talks are underway With NAB authorities.
The investigation officers said “ I have been filing application on every hearing to seek time for submitting final challan.
Farooq H Naik said only filing application does not serve the purpose and the justification has also to be given.
The court after hearing the arguments of respondents extended the interim bail in respect of 11 suspects including Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till March 05.
The court maintained that further hearing in respect of bail plea of Anwar Majeed and Abdul Ghani Majeed will be held on February 20.
On non producing Aslam Masood , key suspect in Money laundering case by FIA , a medical certificate was presented in the court.
Prosecutor FIA told the court that transit remand of Aslam Masood was obtained from Punjab for five days but he is sick and doctors have advised him not to travel. According to medical certificate the health condition of the accused does not allow to bring him to Karachi. He will be produced in the court soon after his recovery from ailment.
