RAWALPINDI: Environment department has taken serious notice of pollution being caused by brick kilns and issued red notices to owners of 200 brick kilns in Rawalpindi district.
As per media reports the environment department has warned the owners of these brick kilns either to get install environment friendly modern technology “ zig-zag” in their kilns till March 05 otherwise all the brick kilns found violating these orders will be sealed in the first week of March. .
In the first phase simple notices were issued to them in the month of December and their stance was obtained.
Now in second phase last red notice has been issued to them through environmental protection order.
Secretary Environment Punjab has sent letter to governor state bank of Pakistan to provide loans on soft terms to owners of brick kilns in Punjab for installation of zig zag technology.
Owners of the brick kilns are of the opinion that they have no funds and new technology is installed at the cost of ranging between 1.5 lacs or 2 lac. If soft terms loans are provided they can install new technology.
