Peshawar: K-P Livestock department has decided to form “Donkey Farms” in Mansehra and DI Khan under donkey export project.
According to live stock department, these donkey farms will be established in partnership with foreign companies for which agreements will be signed with registered companies along with Chinese government.
In the initial stage, sick, disable and weak donkeys will be supplied.
During the first three years, 80,000 donkeys will be exported.
Reproduction of donkeys will be completed within the 3 and a half year.
Livestock department claimed that Chinese companies showed their interest in donkey farms while foreign companies are ready to invest worth 3 billion dollars.
Department said that employment of 70,000 families of K-P province is linked to donkeys therefore we want to sign donkeys export agreement in well thought manner to avoid any reduction of donkeys in the province too.
Livestock department said that different parts of donkeys have been used in the preparation of furniture and medicines and demand of donkey hair in China is also greater.
