RAWALPINDI: Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Rawalpindi is considering to impose tax on those obtaining water through boring system in their homes following the rejection of bail out package by the Punjab government. WASA had requested Punjab government to approve its bail out package to the tune of Rs 770 million to enable it to pay salaries to its employees and meet its operational expenses including Utility bills But provincial government has refused to provide any fund and directed WASA to improve its tax recovery system besides pursuing austerity norms. . WASA authorities have said there is left no option with them except to impose tax on homes having boring system in order to meet their expenses. WASA has not increased taxes since the last ten years and not it is facing deficit amounting to Rs 1.3 billion.
