Rawalpindi: To discuss ways to tackle Climate Change in Pakistan, Young Volunteers for Peace, organised a seminar, ‘Sustainable Ecology is the Need of Hour’ at e-library in Rawalpindi. The chief guest of the seminar was Minister of State for Climate Change, Zartaj Gul.
Speaking on the occasion, Zartaj Gul said that all efforts were being made by government to achieve objective of Clean and Green Pakistan. She further said that goal of making Pakistan green could only be accomplished by effective public participation especially with the vital role of youth.
On issue of lowering of Groundwater level in Islamabad, she responded that Water Table Regulatory Authority would be formulated in coming days to tackle this environmental problem of capital city.
The other keynote speakers of seminar were Arif Abbasi-Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority and Abid Abbasi- Joint Secretary Central Press Club. They talked about role of Youth in tackling Climate Change in Pakistan.
There was also a session of Dr. Imran Bodlah, who briefed audience about exotic and local varieties of plants and their impact on environment.
The seminar also launched National Consortium for Sustainable Ecology initiative of Young Volunteers for Peace.
