Dense fog engulfs different cities of Punjab

Islamabad: Dense fog has engulfed different cities of Punjab including Vehari, Boray wala, Melsi and adjoining areas while some sections of motorway have also been closed due to zero visibility.
Slight rain in the Capital has turned the weather frosty while heavy snowfall continues in upper parts of the country.
Dense fog engulfed Vehari, Burewala, Melssi, Khanewal, Lodhran, Manga Mandi, Pattoki, Renala Khurd, Okara, Sahiwal, Harrippa, Chichawatni, Mian channu and adjoining areas where the visibility remained only 10 meters and flow of traffic has been affected badly on Multan , Khanewal and Bahawalpur road.
According to Spokesperson Motorway Police Imran Ahmad, there is dense fog on national highways and motorways where visibility is from 0 to 50 meters.
Multan-Khanewal motorway and motorway M-2 Lahore- Sheikhupura has also been closed due to dense fog.
He said that citizens should avoid any unnecessary travelling during fog and must use fog lights during driving and take help from helpline 130 before driving.
Travel advisory has been issued in the mobile phone application “NHMP humsafar”, he added.
He said use of app before and during driving could be beneficial and people can hear the transmission of motorway police FM 95 live.
Spokesperson further said that breaking news is being aired after every 15 minutes on FM 95 for the facility of general public.
On the other hand, the snowfall is continuing in district Ghizar of Gilgit Baltistan while ground connection of its dozens of upper villages has been disrupted.
Flow of traffic has been suspended in several areas due to heavy snowfall in upper parts of the country.
First snowfall of New Year has occurred in Murree after which a great number of tourists started reaching Murree to enjoy the chilly weather.
