ISLAMABAD: Nisar Ahmed and Shamim Ara of Progressive Panel are elected as unopposed President and General Secretary of Rawalpindi Islamabad Bureaus Journalist Association (RIBJA) respectively. Faheem Zubair Abbasi elected as Finance Secretary.
Speaking at the occasion, the newly elected President RIBJA, Nisar Ahmed said that journalist community showed his full confidence in him, as a result he will do his best for the journalists. RIBJA will protect the basic rights of the journalists, he added.
Secretary General RIBJA, Shamim Ara said that RIBJA will take all the important measures to resolve the issues of its members as well as the whole journalist community. She emphasized to make RIBJA more active.
Qurban Satti, the founding leader RIBJA, congratulated all the newly unopposed elected officials. He said that RIBJA will protect the rights of all journalists without any discrimination.
The unopposed elected Vice Presidents are: Azam Khan, Syed Tahir Shah, Syed Nusrat Shah, and Hanif Abid. Four seats of Joint Secretaries are filled by Raja Javed Akhtar, Farooq Ahmed, Syed Mujahid Naqvi, and Malik Naveed Iqbal. The 25 seats of governing body are filled by Javed Iqbal, Rana Shahid Hameed, Naveed Ahmed Chaudhry, Hassan Abbas, Akhtar Subhani, Tahir Kiyani, Muhammad Abbas, Adnan Haider Chaudhry, Rizwan Tahir, Rana Adnan, Farooq Khatak, Sardar Muhammad Fayyaz, Shehzad Hassan Mirza, Raja Shaukat, Baqar Hussain, Mehfooz Bhatti, Ghulam Mustafa Sawati, and Farhan Yousaf.
