Islamabad: (Parliament Times) A team from NUST School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (SEECS), “RealPharma” remained the best after winning Telenor DigiGov Hackfest 2018, held at Telenor HQ from December 14-16, 2018. The HackFest was organised by Telenor in collaboration with Microsoft, Saylani Welfare Trust, International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Pakistan and NUST Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Student Chapter. The competition challenged the participating teams to come up with solutions addressing different social problems of Pakistan. RealPharma is a start-up aimed at eliminating fake medicines from the Pakistani market, which constitute almost 50% of the total production. The innovative solution enables a patient to check the validity of medicines through an application. The team from NUST comprised Software Engineering students namely, Kashif Nazir Khan and Ahsan Farooq.
A team of volunteers from NUST ACM, headed by Ramis Mustafa, helped in the overall organisation and conduct of the event. In addition, a session on GitHub was conducted during the HackFest by Chapter’s President Mr Ali Ayub Khan, who was also one of the HackFest’s mentors, and the only GitHub Campus Expert in Pakistan. .
