ZHOB: Speakers at a seminar to mark the National Voters Day here, highlighted the importance of vote and said its judicious use could change the destiny of a nation and strengthen democratic norms.
The seminar was organized at district assembly hall in collaboration with ECP in connection with voter day. Deputy Commissioner Sherani, District Election Commissioners Zhob, Sherani, Deputy Chairman Municipal Committee and representatives of civil society were in attendance.
DC Sherani Abdul Khaliq Mandokhail while addressing the participants said that the use of vote could bring positive change and lead the country and its people towards prosperity and development. “Honest and committed public representatives could only be chosen through voting system. Keeping in mind the people should use their vote with honesty,” DC asked the participants.
Election Commissioner Zhob Shahidullah, Election Commissioner Sherani Muhammad Ali and Rehmatullah Kakar said that celebrating the day was aimed at creating awareness among the masses about the importance of vote and participation in electoral process. ECP was taking concrete steps for ensuring people participation in the electoral process.“The ballot is not only a piece of paper but it determines the kind of democracy in the country”. They said.
Khateeb Central Jama mosque Maulana Allah Dad Kakar, Deputy Chairman Haji Naseeb Nasar and General Secretary teachers union Syed Mashhood Shah Bukhari also spoke on the occasion and termed participation in electoral process a national obligation of every citizen. The participants also held a walk in this regard.
