HAVELI: (Parliament Times) Azad Jammu and Kashmir government is taking measures to administer anti-polio drops to infants 5 and below to ensure that the State is polio-free.
In Haveli district four-day anti-polio drive also kicks off from December 10 as elsewhere in the State. Public health department’s teams would go house to house in the district to administer polio drops to the toddlers up to 5 years during the drive. All necessary arrangements to this effect have been finalized by the health department.
A meeting was held in the office of deputy commissioner Haveli on Wednesday to review all arrangements to make the anti-polio campaign a success.
Focal person DEPAC Sheikh Muhammad Aslam briefed the meeting that anti-polio drive would continue from December 10 to 13 in the district. Around 26,500 infants up to age 5 would be administered polio drops for which 99 mobile teams have been constituted which would travel from house to house during the drive. He said 19 fixed points while 7 transit points have been set up for this purpose. He said supervisory staff and workers would be given training before the drive begins.
To create awareness about the importance of anti-polio drops he urged educational institutions of the district to let the children know about polio drops during morning assemblies. He said mobile teams would be available in all the three tehsils of the district during the drive while a control room would be set up in deputy commissioner office for coordination. He said mobile teams would also visit all the areas close to LoC.
DC Raja Arshad Mehmood directed to provide him details of staff, teams, training schedule and overall schedule of the polio drive for effective monitoring, in the meeting. He also asked the representatives of all concerned departments to fully cooperate to make the drive a success.
