Islamabad: (Parliament Times) State Minister for Communications, Postal Services Mr. Murad Saeed inaugurated the Electronic Money Order and Same Day Delivery Services at General Post Office (GPO) Islamabad here today. On this occasion a ceremony was held at Islamabad GPO participated by Director General Pakistan Post Ms. Rubina Tayyab and senior officers from Ministry of Communications and Postal Services, department. Addressing the ceremony Mr. Murad Saeed termed Electronic Money Order service, a revolutionary step towards delivery of digitalized postal service to the people. Initially this service is being provided in 25 major cities and gradually it will be extended to other cities. The service will ensure prompt delivery upto Rs. 50,000/- at door step.
Desiring improvement in Postal Services system he said, thirteen thousand post offices will be modernized. He further said, result oriented immediate steps are being taken to increase revenue of Postal department and hopefully its deficit of Rs. 10 billion per annum will be controlled and will be turned into a profitable department. There is a great potential of development and soon it will contribute at large to national economy. Postal Service is a national department and its performance will further be improved with cooperation of the people, he added.
