Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Hussain Chaudhry denied on Friday that the government was planning an operation against the protesters after the Asia Bibi’s acquittal verdict by the Supreme Court.
The various religio-political parties in the country started protesting on Wednesday after Supreme Court quashed the conviction of Asia Bibi, a Christian woman facing death sentence for blasphemy and now the news is being circulated on social media that the government was planning an operation against the protesters.
But the Federal Minister rejected the news, saying “Law and order situation in the country is under control and negotiations with protesters are underway .”
Chaudhry, in his tweet, said that the government was responsible for protection of people’s lives and freedom. All the news on social media about operation were fake. Government did not want to tread on a violent path.
He said that the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Noor ul Haq Qadri would also talk with the leadership of protesters.
Earlier, in his message, Chaudhray had said that the patience of the state should not be construed as a weakness. The people’s interest lies only in the rule of law and the government would discharge this obligation. Prime Minister Imran Khan was being minutely informed about the current situation and the attempt to sabotage his China visit would be thwarted.
